His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene has pardoned Nana Brempong Antwiagyei II and caused his reinstatement as the Atwimahene.

His reinstatement comes three months after he was destooled on Monday April 16, 2018 by the Asantehene for gross insubordination and misconduct.

Nana Agyei Brempong II was of accused of defying instructions of the Asantehene, the King of Asante, who owns all the stools and lands in the Ashanti Region and subsequently found guilty of lying in the presence of the sacred Golden Stool, which was seen as a grievous crime against the sacred Golden Stool and Asanteman, which occasioned his destoolment with immediate effect.

The embattled chief was reportedly found guilty of accusations of having sold plots of land without accounts.

The beleaguered chief was also found guilty of the wrongful use of the Great Oath of the Asantehene, a crime which is considered very serious in Asanteman.
As a result, the requisite rites were immediately performed after the Asantehene had given his judgment officially, amidst shedding of uncontrollable tears by scores of people from Atwima.

Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, who has been the sole financier for the reshaping of entire Atwima Traditional Area, was engaged in litigation with Kwanwomahene, Nana Amponsa Kwaa over a parcel of land situated at Anwaa in the AtwimaKwanwoma district of Ashanti region.

It is gathered that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who presides over the Kumasi Traditional Council directed that a case involving the Kwanwomahene and the Atwimahene be put on hold and that no party should step on the land in dispute until they are told to do so.

However, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II defied Otumfuo’s order and installed an Odikro over the land in dispute which act amounted to gross misconduct and insubordination, as well as flouting the Great Oath (Ntam Kesie) of Otumfuo.

But contrary to what started as a rumour, Nana Brempong Antwiagyei II was on Monday June 25, 2018 reinstated at the Manhyia Palace sending the people of Denkyemuso and Atwima Techiman agog with happiness and merry making.

The Chronicle has gathered that prominent and influential people in society, including a former president of the republic and the clergy intervened on behalf of the Atwimahene, which left Otumfuo with no other option than to consider reinstating his once “darling boy”, with the admonition “to go and sin no more”.

Nana Brempong Antwiagyei II has since renewed his oath of allegiance to the Ashanti King.

Prior to the oath, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II cautioned the Atwimahene to desist from bragging that he has close links with Manhyia and that the King is his personal friend.

Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II has served as Atwimahene since 2011. He marked his fifth anniversary in 2016 with the construction and commissioning of an ultra-modern at Sanoma near Kumasi which was commissioned by the Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The chief had also built schools, police station, hospital and promised to give a Ghanaian-German school in the area a facelift.

In April last year, the Atwimahene set the pace for the “One District, One factory” policy by the government when he established a multi-million cedi plastic industry, called Free Falls Company Limited, which is creating employment for the youth in the  area.

Free Falls Company produces Free Falls sachet water, black polythene bags, pharmaceutical products, boutique bags and printing on polythene bags and plastic bottles.
