The Jamasi Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) emerged champions of the District Quiz Competition organised for some selected schools in the Sekyere South District.
The competition was organised and sponsored by Lt. Colonel Serebour Ababio (rtd), Chief Director of Finance at National Security and a native of the area.
The participating schools included Jamasi Presbyterian Junior High (JHS), Bepoase D/A JHS, Interbeton D/A JHS, Boanim Roman Catholic JHS, Kona Zongo D/A JHS, Asamang Amoakohe D/A JHS, and Wiamoase JHS.
According to Samuel Noel Aboagye, Special Aide to the retired army officer, the gesture was to help raise the standard of education in the district, to enable the children confidently compete with their colleagues in the cities.
He said it is time educational excellence should not be determined by where a person had his/her education.
He called on corporate bodies, stakeholders and philanthropists to assist brilliant but needy students in the remote communities to bridge the rural-city educational barriers, irrespective of where one had his/her education.
He pleaded with parents, especially those who kids are enrolling into the free Senior High School, not to over-rely on the programme, but take a keen interest in by providing them their basic needs to complement the government’s effort to ensure education for all.
Lt. Colonel Serebour Ababio (rtd) also presented exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, footballs, set of jerseys and citations to all the participating schools.
