ECG Arrests Two Churches For Illegal Power Connection

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has arrested seven suspects, including two churches, for illegal electricity connection amounting to GH¢150.000. Mr. Erasmus Kyere Baidoo, Ashanti Regional Public Relations Manager, explained that the suspects were arrested at Kronum, Afrancho and Kwapra.

According to him, a lot of people owe the ECG but are not prepared to pay, so the company decided to embark upon a disconnection exercise. He regretted some of the people disconnected did not pay the debt but went ahead to connect the power illegally and promised to continue with the exercise until sanity prevails.

He cautioned customers to pay for the power they consume to ensure constant supply and refrain from illegal connection, promising not to stop the disconnection exercise and warned the law breakers to stop.

Some of the suspects arrested were Holy Church of God, Church of God, Mr. Amponsah, Mabre Kai Lydia, Fodjour Comfort, Adwoa Mensah, Owusu Lawrence, Opoku Leticia-Amponsah and Ama Bonsu.
