The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai, Kwaku Kyei Baffour, on behalf of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, has presented items to members of the Disabled Federation in the Municipality.
About 125 persons living with disability benefited from a GH¢133,440 package from its share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), which is meant for persons with disability.
They were supported with items, including 30 freezers, 10 sewing machines, one knitting machine, two wheelchairs, one hair cutter, one hair dryer, two spraying machines, and two shoe sewing machines, according to their needs.
Some persons with disability were given cash to support their trade, and others were also given educational support.
Kwaku Kyei Baffour explained that as part of measures to resource persons living with disability, they called all the beneficiaries and asked what their needs are and which can earn them a living. So, they bought the requested items which can help them earn a living and not to be dependent on others.
Mr. Isaac Ofori Dwamena, Vice Chairman of the Federation, thanked the government for the continuous support from the assembly for members of the federation to earn a decent living in a bid to remove persons with disability from the streets.
