The chiefs and people of the Kumawu Traditional Area, in collaboration with the SekyereKumawu District, have appointed Mr. Eugene Moratt and Okyeremaba Cosmos Boasiako Antwi as Peace and Tourism Ambassadors for the area.
The two would focus on the dual responsibility of ensuring peace in the traditional area and promoting tourism as a source of revenue for the district administration.
Eugene aka WofaU, is the General Manager of Kumasi-based New Mercury FM Radio station and a film producer, while Cosmos Antwi Boasiako is a broadcast journalist with Royal Television in Kumasi. Both are natives of the area.
At a short ceremony at Kumawu, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Samuel Addae Agyekum, urged the two ambassadors to exploit the tourism potentials of the area to improve the revenue base of the assembly.
He also hoped they would work and restore peace in the area, following years of protracted chieftaincy disputes that have affected development, and promised to work and lessen chieftaincy disputes to ensure the proper development of the area.
Mr. Moratt, CEO of E & E Films, gave the assurance that the duo would work to rebuild the image of Kumawu by partnering development agents, including movie stars, to explore the potentials of the area.
He noted that tourism potentials abound in the district, and stressed on the need to identify them and develop them into attractions for tourists.
Mr. Moratt indicated that the name of the legendary Nana Tweneboa Kodua is, in itself, a huge tourist attraction to preserve.
He said with the support of nananom and the District Assembly, the two ambassadors would develop two waterfalls that have been discovered in the district, as well develop the natural landscape and wildlife to promote tourism.
