The Ashaiman Division of the Ghana Fire Service has beaten the Ashaiman Division of the Ghana Police Service, in the final to lift this year’s maiden Inter-security Services Soccer Gala.
The centre of the attraction was the Ashaiman Saint Mary’s School park, where the Ashaiman Police beat the Ashaiman Security Task Force in the opening match, by penalties.
In the second match, Fire Service beat the Ghana Ambulance Service by a solitary goal, thus, setting the ground for the grand duel between Fire and Police.
Both teams played a pacing game, and after a virgin first half, Fire Service, through one of their sweet passing and inter-positional movements, opened the scoring through Solomon Ahenkorah, who is the organiser of the maiden fiesta.
With about ten minutes to end the match, a feeble shot slipped through the fingers of the Fire Service goalie, enabling Police to draw parity.
The equaliser was short lived as Fire Service restored their lead in less than three minutes, after pressing harder with their swift-passing football.
The theme for the gala was ‘United to Combat Crime’, and present to grace the occasion were Albert Boakye Okyere, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, and senior officers from both the Ashaiman Division of the Fire and Police services.
