The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, has inaugurated a four-member Regional Management Team for the Ghana Census of Agriculture to supervise the districts and co-ordinate the implementation of the census activities in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Asomah Cheremeh said the purpose of the Agriculture Census is to produce and disseminate complete and reliable agricultural data to meet the needs of policy makers and other users to support informed decision making and for monitoring development programmes aimed at further developing agriculture and the rural areas.
He noted that the Agric Census programme would be implemented in four phases in line with the “Modular Approach” recommended by Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) for the 2020 Round of World Censuses of Agriculture.
The management team is chaired by the Chief Director of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Oppong Kwame, with Dr. Cyril Quist, Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Mr. Imoro Ayibani Tebra, Regional Director of the Information Services Department, and Mr. Amatus S. Nobabumah, Regional Statistician, as members.
“It is a pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to inaugurate the Brong-Ahafo Regional Management Team of Ghana Census of Agriculture, and to kick-start the publicity campaign in order to create awareness and educate the public on the activities of the Census,” the Regional Minister said, and charged them to perform the tasks assigned them creditably.
The Chairman of the team, Mr. Oppong Kwame, assured the Minister that the team would deliver on their mandate for the needed results to be achieved.
