The Tema Regional Police Command has moved one step ahead to stop criminals, with the introduction of a Phantom Three drone.
The drone would be operated 24 hours, and depending on battery strength, the equipment could travel 5,000 metres per 30 minutes.
The Phantom Three drone was launched at Tema Community One, where a demonstration was carried out by the Tema Regional Police Command Drone Squad.
The new modus of fighting crime in the region is the initiative of the Tema Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nana Asoma Hinneh.
He explained that a Drone Squad from Accra would give further tutorials to the Tema Squad on the effective use of the technology, including how to analyse images to easily track criminals.
That this technology has been adopted does not mean the police would easily locate the whereabouts of criminals if the citizenry do not give us the necessary tip offs, DCOP ACP Asoma Hinneh said.
The demonstration of the new crime fighting strategy would be taken to Ashaiman, Afienya, Ada and Dodowa later.
