The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, claims it is now safer for Ghanaians to conduct business using the Mobile Money system than the traditional banks.
Known for his economic prowess, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP claimed that the Nada Addo led-administration has created a shaky environment for the traditional banks to stay in business.
In a short address on Saturday May 5 in Bolgatanga, where the Unity Walk of the NDC was held, the opposition legislator claimed that banks in Ghana are collapsing under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and that the safer way for Ghanaians to transact business is through the mobile money system.
“Today, when you have a mobile money account; when you have a Vodafone mobile money account it will not collapse; when you have MTN mobile money account it will not collapse; when you have Airtel mobile money account it is safe; when you have a bank account, it is the worst and riskier account you can have. Banks are collapsing, but mobile money accounts are safer today than the [bank] accounts of our country. We should bring back John Dramani Mahama to restore the confidence and the hopes of the people of Ghana, so that, together, we can give posterity a better generation than we are facing.”
Mr. Adogno said for the banking sector to be revived, unless ex-president Mahama is given another opportunity to serve as president, because under his four-year term as president, businesses in Ghana, including the banking sector, boomed.
