There was grief and shedding of tears at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi yesterday, when a limping Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko by a lone goal, courtesy Patrick Razak on match day 10 in the ongoing premier league.
A superb goal by the Phobian’s most prized asset on the 75th minute mark, helped to maintain their impressive 12 years unbeaten run at the Kumasi Stadium in the league.
Kotoko dominated the first half while the Phobians took over the second half. However, a single mistake committed by Kotoko’s Douglas Owusu Ansah led to Hearts’ goal.
Winful Cobbinah, who was quiet throughout the first half, finally did one of his magic, when he picked the ball from Owusu Ansah and laid a scintillating pass to Razak, who made no mistake by planting the ball in the top right corner.
Prior to this epic clash, Kotoko appeared to have had a good form in the league as compared to their opponents, but as usual the Phobians did what mattered most in the ‘Super Clash’.
The book makers often say matches between Hearts and Kotoko do not follow any “form guide” and this assertion was put to test yesterday, with the limping Phobians justifying the book makers’ long held position.
Patrick Razak picked up the man of the match award.
