AshantiGold coach Charles Akunnor could face disciplinary action after he attempted a physical assault on referee Charles Bulu during his side’s 2-1 defeat by Medeama at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.
The former Black Stars captain was left livid after the referee awarded an injury time penalty to Medeama.
Akunnor removed his jacket and jumped onto the pitch after the final whistle and attempted to attack the match official.
Medeama could have buried the league leaders under avalanche of goals but for the resolute defence of the Obuasi- based side.
Medeama were earlier denied a second goal after Justice Blay’s powerful header crossed the line but the referee waved on.
Medeama opened the scoring through a powerful header from Justice Blay, before Roland Djodji pulled parity to end the first half.
The referee awarded an injury time penalty to Medeama, which midfielder Kwasi Donsu expertly converted to hand them the three points.
