From Naabenyin Joojo Amissah, Komenda.
Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Nana Appiah-Korang, has donated one hundred dual desks to six basic schools in the Municipality.
The schools are Aldersgate M/A, College Practice, Komenda M/A Junior High School (JHS) A, Anglican Primary, Komenda M/A Primary A and B, and Essaman United.
The donation formed part of the MCE’s determination to completely end the situation where pupils have to carry their own desks to school or fall on their parents to provide desks in the municipality.
This brings to 200 the total number of dual desks the MCE has procured from his own funds to support and raise the standard of education within the municipality since he assumed office.
It would be recalled that when the Assembly recently presented dual desks to some schools within the Municipality, Mr Appiah-Korang personally donated an additional one hundred.
Speaking to The Chronicle during the presentation, the MCE stated that the promotion of education in the municipality was his priority.
“Government’s Free SHS programme has come to stay, and we must make sure that our pupils are fully prepared to be able to write their BECE and pass,” he said.
“At the end of my tenure, every school in the municipality will have adequate furniture and other teaching and learning materials, so that our children can perform,” he added.
Some of the teachers of the beneficiary schools expressed joy at the MCE’s gesture. According to them, it would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning.
