A sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of two multi-purpose modern toilet facilities for the people of Manso-Domi-Keniago and Manso Akwasiso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region has taken place in the communities.
The project is being funded from the US$1 million fund for every constituency as promised by the government.
The Member of Parliament for the Manso-Adubia Constituency, Yaw Frimpong Addo, said at separate colourful durbars at Keniago and Manso Akwasiso that the project is in fulfillment of the government’s promise to support development projects.
He said the project would be equipped with a solar system and borehole.
He said the10-seater project for each of the beneficiary communities would be completed in four months, and the contractor would start work as soon as possible.
MP Frimpong Addo said each of the 84 communities in the district would get its fair share of the funding, but explained that the first batch of three beneficiary communities, Manso-Domi Keniago, Manso-Akwasiso and Manso-Mem, were in urgent need of proper toilet facilities.
The Chief of Manso-Akwasiso, Nana Kwakye Gyimah Yeboah, thanked President Nana Akufo- Addo for the projects, which, he noted, would help improve sanitation in the area.
He appealed to the government to tar the road from Mem junction to Adubia, Datano, Watrseo, and Keniago for the easy movement of goods and services.
At Manso Domi-Keniago, the Assembly Member, Mr. Paul Wiredu Dankwah, also thanked President Nana Akufo Addo and the Member of Parliament for the projects, and appealed the government to provide the town with a mechanised water system to solve the acute water problem the town faces.
He also called on the government to established an additional Senior High School in the district.
