The T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi has been adjudged champions of this year’s Super Zonal Schools and Colleges Athletics Competition for the 10th consecutive time.
The 2018 Schools and Colleges Athletics Competition was organised by the Ashanti Region Schools and Colleges Sports Federation, designed to unravel the talents of students in the various schools and colleges.
The competition, which spanned a period of one month, took place at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with the all the qualified schools and colleges in the region participating.
Alhaji Yakub A.B. Abubakar, Headmaster of the school, expressed his excitement and commended the school sports team and teachers in charge of sports for their relentless efforts that brought the school this far, as the first in retaining the championship for the tenth consecutive time.
He explained that T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School Kumasi has an enviable track record of achievements in sports, through their love for sports, dedication, commitment and discipline, which, he said, has won the school the most disciplined school at the tournament.
The school’s feats include being first runner-up in the National Independence Day Debate 2016, placing second in the 2017 Ashanti Regional Schools and Colleges Debate, and overall champion in the Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition, organised by the Association for Mathematics and Statistics, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in October 2017.
Some of the schools which participated in the tournament include Prempeh College, Opoku Ware Senior High School, Kumasi High School, and Osei Kyeretwie SHS.
