Letter to Opupulepu (3) I Am Not Understand…The Confusion Is So Basaa!

botchway March 26, 2018

Dear Snr. Opupulepu,

I guess you must be very popular by now, due to the leaking of our private mail into the public domain by some journalist. If I dare speak foul of this nosey arm-chair reporter, the whole of Ghanaian media practitioners will descend upon me.

As a shy person who does not want publicity, I will leave the gods to deal with this journalist who is deep into plagiarism. May he see a bottle of beer and perceive it as a bottle of purgative; may he see a glass of beer and think it is Muscatella.

Anyway, Snr. Opupulepu, I am so confused about the goings on in this country about the decision by the government to allow the Yankees to turn Ghana into a Burma Camp. I am confused, not because I think it is a bad idea, but, rather, because the very people who laid the foundation for changing your house into a military base cookhouse are those same people shouting foul and making the world perceive H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a slave master who has sold Ghana for a pittance.

In fact, I am not understand this at all, for if the law is to be applied to the letter, then the go-ahead by the Ghana government to the USA to start pitching military tents all over Ghana took effect on February 24, 1998. Yes, February 24, on the 32nd anniversary of the overthrow of the Nkrumah/CPP regime.

The socialists claimed February 24, 1966 was the darkest day in Ghana’s history; well what will they say about February 24, 1998? In 1966, Ghanaians took over the sovereignty of Ghana from Ghanaians. In 1998, we effectively handed over the sovereignty of Ghana to the Yankees. And this happened under one of the socialist regimes of President Jerry John Rawlings.

Snr. Opupulepu, since 1998, we have been living on time added on, and now that reality is staring us in the face, we have Jerry crying foul and advising the government to back off that deal.

Snr. Opupulepu, do you now understand why I am not understanding what is going on? How can the same person who facilitated the handing over of Ghana to the US in 1998, turn round twenty years later to condemn what he initiated?

It is like a secretary who took minutes of a meeting, and at the next meeting will raise his hands to correct the minutes he wrote, doing the Correction of Minutes.

But Snr. Opupulepu, can this man Rawlings be trusted in all this? His current love relationship with H.E. Nana Addo looks very suspicious to me.

Look, was he not the one who turned Ghana into a Libyan military base, from 1981 to wherever? Did he not watch on unconcerned as Libyan soldiers manhandled Ghanaians in our own country? Did he even cough when Gaddafi removed his portraits from all the walls on the state facility he was lodging and replaced them with his; meaning Ghana became an extension of Libya?

Snr. Opupulepu, was is not this same Jerry who invited a certain Cotton to come and grow rice in Ghana, and ended up freely giving away $20 million to that poverty-stricken African-American woman to make her a millionaire over night? Moving from her one bedsitter low cost apartment into a 20-room mansion; owning fleets of the most expensive cars after hitch-hiking all her life.

Snr. Opupulepu, was this not the man who collected $5 million from Abacha and denied it outright, only to resurface eighteen years later to say he now remembered that he took something small, about $2 million.

Snr. Opupulepu, seriously I am not understand this whole confusion at all, which is very basaaa. How can members of the NDC, who, on the blind side of Ghanaians, went into an agreement with the US in 1998 and 2015, today charge on the NPP government and profess treason charges? Disregarding Ghanaians, this socialist party has done us in. Ghana has been sold out to the highest bidder, and sooner than later, the new owners will come to repossess the land.

Snr. Opupulepu, what does the NDC think about Ghanaians and Ghana? They traded terrorists with the Americans and imported two of them without letting us know that our population had increased by two.

Then the NDC went on to declassify these terrorists to refugee status, and even got a wife for one of them. All these happened on the blind side of good Ghanaians, but when the truth came out, they went about blaming this government of H.E. Nana Addo, just as they are doing same about this military base affair.

Snr. Opupulepu, the only advantage for you in this US military base saga is that it will be very possible that in digging to construct their base, they might find your missing two inch pencil.

Bye for now, my Snr.

As always, it is Me!

Hon. Daniel Dugan
