Deport the Aliens

Having a staggering number of about 4.5 million aliens in the country has contributed highly to the recent growth of criminal cases all over, prompting people to think we are in a state of insecurity.
Mr Adam Bonaa, a Security Analyst and CEO of Security Warehouse, said this in an interview with Banbo News, disclosing that illegal migrants in the country are huge contributors to the various crimes we are encountering.
He says sending these people back to their various countries will reduce crime, as well as reduce pressure on the economy. “Most of these migrants are doing some businesses which are to be reserved for Ghanaians.”
According to him, the records are there in the various police stations to be verified, that the countless number of cases, ranging from cyber fraud to armed robbery to rape and even illegal mining (galamsey), involve citizens of our neighbouring countries and even beyond.
The jailbreak in Kwabenya some weeks ago had the involvement of some Nigerian citizens. All these invasions are due to the porous nature of our borders, and for that, the Immigration Service should be up-and doing in sending all migrants who have overstayed their 90 days, as stated in the ECOWAS treaty, back to their countries, because anything beyond that with no proper documentation to affirm their stay is illegal.
“I will admit there are some serious-minded migrants in the country doing genuine business. They are not those giving this country trouble, but the ones who are here illegally, they should be asked to go back peacefully, if they refuse, they should be fingerprinted and deported.
Measures should also be put in place to stop them from coming back for a number of years, just to serve as a warning to those who would want to take advantage of our peaceful nature in this country.”
