I have come to seek your wisdom and knowledge to guide me …Transport Minister tells chief


Kweku Ofori Asiamah, Minister for Transport has begun courting the support of traditional rulers in the region as a means to help him succeed as the sector Minister.

Considering the role traditional authorities play in the administration of the country, Mr. Kweku Ofori Asiamah has begun paying courtesy calls on some traditional rulers in his first visit to the region as a Minister.

Paying a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area, the Transport Minister told Nana Kobina Nketiah that “I have come to seek your counsel, knowledge and guidance. I know your guidance and counsel will guide me to succeed as Transport Minister”.Hon. Kweku Ofori Asiamah (left) in a handshake with Essikado Omanhene

According to the Minister, he could not come to the region without first paying homage to Nananom, saying he had therefore come to present himself to the Essikado Omanhene as a sign of respect that he was on his soil.

Hon. Ofori Asiamah uttered these words when he was introduced to Nana Kobina Nketiah by the Director of the Takoradi Port, Captain Ebenezer Afedzie as the new Transport Minister. Responding, the Essikado Omanhene who was flanked by his elders acknowledged the first step taken by the Minister to court the knowledge and counsel of Nananom.

“I ask God for wisdom, knowledge and good health for you to succeed in your Ministry”. Advising the Minister, Omanhene Nana Kobina Nketiah called on the Minister to sacrifice for mother Ghana by thinking about Ghana first.
