One Saturday, lovers of hockey are expected to be enthralled with the best form of hockey at the National Hockey Stadium, to prepare the grounds ahead of the hockey championship scheduled from December 8 to 19, 2010.
Lined up for the hockey fiesta are Greater Accra’s four senior teams – comprising NDK Financiers, Citizens, Veterans and Multistix. Also to take part in the hockey festival are the Indian Community, The Korea Mission in Ghana and all he foreign missions of the participating countries like Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt, who are expected to raise a team for Saturday’s fiesta.
The gala competition would be followed by a sponsor’s gala night at the same venue. The forthcoming tourney will attract eleven teams; made up of seven male teams and six female teams.
The male sides are Sharkia and Police from Egypt, Strathmore University of Kenya, Niger Flickers and Yobi Desert from Nigeria, Trustees and Golden Sticks from Ghana, all battling for supremacy.
Extinguishers and Reformers (Ghana), Heartland, Yobi Queens (Nigeria), defending champions Telcom (Kenya) and Sharkia, will battle for honours in the female category.
