Ho West MP supports Volta GJA

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West Constituency, Mr.Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has donated a set of computers, accessories and printer to the Volta Regional office of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), as part of his personal contribution to supporting media practitioners in their activities.

The items, which were valued at GH¢2000, was in fulfillment of a promise the MP made a few months ago, when he met media practitioners from the region at a soiree he organized to fraternize with them, and familiarise himself with difficulties the media was experiencing in the discharge of duties.

Presenting the items in Ho, Mr. Bedzrah said he recognised the immense contribution of the media to the development of the region, and assured the personnel of his continued assistance when necessary, to ensure that the media operates smoothly, adding that there was the need for them to work hard to enhance development activities in the region.

Mr. Bedzrah noted that in the era of information technology communication (ICT), there was the need for the media to have access to computers at the regional office of the GJA to facilitate its smooth operation, and appealed to the regional executives to put the items to good use for the benefit of all the members in the region.

He disclosed that he would support hard working journalists from the region who would win a national award with an amount of GH¢1000, and challenged the various media men and women in the region to distinguish themselves in the fields of their chosen profession, to pave way for the best person to benefit from his award.

Receiving the items, the Regional Secretary of the GJA, Mr. Anthony Kanyi, thanked the MP for his gesture, and promised to ensure that the items would be used for the intended purposes, and said it would definitely improve the activities of the GJA in the region.

In a related development, Mr. Bedzrah also presented 5,000 exercise books, valued at GH¢4,600, which he purchased out of his share of the Common Fund, to the Ho Municipal Directorate of Education, to be given out to schools in the area, as part of the his contribution to the promotion of education in the Municipality.
