Hearts to spend big on transfer market -Togbe Afede

Hearts board chairman Togbe Afede

Hearts of Oak’s Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV insists the club is in sound financial standing to raid the transfer market.

The Phobians are looking to strengthen for next season after enduring a disappointing campaign which saw the league title go to arch rivals Asante Kotoko.

Despite spending big in the January transfer window, Hearts were unable to keep chase on Kotoko and gradually fell off their second position to finish the campaign in third.  This, however, does little o deter the club from launching another raid in the post-season transfer market and Togbe Afede has assured monies in abundance at the club will be well spent to strengthen the side on all fronts for next season.

“We have found the problems that have mitigated against us over the past season and we are trying to resolve them,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.   “The most important is the need to strengthen our squad. Money to strength the squad is not our issue. The issue is attracting the best players in order to give us a balanced squad, one that is strong in defence, strong in midfield and strong in attack.             “And so far I can assure you that we are on the right track. We have talked to very good players who want to play for Accra Hearts of Oak both in defence, midfield and in attack so we are on course.                                                                                                                                                         “The other issue is how to motivate the players once they are in and we have come up with strategies to do that.”    The club boast of the biggest financial reserves in Ghana after conducting a share floatation exercise last year which reportedly fetched them about Ghc 2.5m.
