Happy FM, a local radio station in partnership with Unique UT Bank has initiated an annual blood donation exercise to support the nation’s blood bank.
The maiden donation, which will take place on Friday, May 25, from7:00 am to 4:00pm at the UT Bank Head Office is part of their corporate social responsibility to raise awareness about the need for regular and voluntary blood donations, dubbed “A Pint for a Life”.
According to the General Manager of Happy FM, Charles Osei Asibey, the exercise is meant to encourage people to take up their responsibilities as good citizens, and also to be active participants in humanitarian and social activities in the country.
He explained that the blood donated will save people’s lives adding that “often, we do not realize how important that is. This is why this exercise is being conducted; to raise such awareness and mobilize individuals in saving lives.”
Sophia Lissah, Media and Public Relations Manager for UT Bank reiterated the essence of the project, stating that “access to safe blood will indeed save precious lives.
For us at UT Bank, we are passionate about touching people’s lives in real meaningful ways. Partnering with Happy FM to do this is our way of demonstrating our commitment to Ghanaians. I urge everybody to join us on May 25 to donate blood to save a life”.
