From Ernest Best Anane
The Good News Co-operative Credit Union, on New Year’s day, donated items worth GH¢2,000 to the Kumasi Children’s Home to put a smile on the faces of the inmates.
The items include second hand clothes, footwear, biscuits, toilet rolls, a bag of rice, Indomie noodles, toilet soap, a box of Key soap, and cooking oil.
Mrs. Regina Turkson, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Union, explained that the donation was part of the social responsibility of the union to join the inmates in observing the occasion.
She said the union had over the past three years instituted the gesture to help improve the lot of the orphans, and appealed to other benevolent groups in tsociety to do same.
Madam Lucy Mensah, Deputy Supervisor of the Home, who received the items, commended the union for the gesture and remembering the children when they needed help most.
The Supervisor appealed to other corporate bodies and philanthropists to emulate the gesture of the Good News Co-operative Union to help with the upbringing of the children towards becoming good and responsible citizens.
