By: Sebastian R. Freiku, Kumasi
FIFTY-SEVEN YEARS after the Kumasi Main branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) was opened on the premises of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), it has relocated to its own premises at the Harper Road in Kumasi.
The imposing GCB building at Harper Road in Adum, Kumasi, now houses the Kumasi Main branch and that of the Harper Road branch. Mr. Kojo Addae-Mensah, Chief Operating Officer of GCB said the relocation did not mean the shrinking of its network. He explained that it was a convenient and conducive environment for customers and the bank’s bid to provide safer and better service for its customers.
Mr. Addae-Mensah said with the advent of the aggressive technology, GCB was providing the Internet banking platform for its customers and did not need to physically enter the banking halls to transact Business.
The Chief Operating Officer said management was also working at increasing the bank’s Point of Sales towards making it the largest and well performing bank and challenged the staff to strive to be the best performing branch in the country.
Rev. Asamoah Prah of eh Presbyterian Church dedicated the edifice to God. He prayed for protection for management and staff and the smooth operations of the bank against any form of robbery and fraud. The Kumasi Main branch has since yesterday commenced full operations at the Harper Road.
