Free SHS education Policy: NANA ADDO IS EQUAL TO THE TASK – NPP chair

From Sebastian R. Freiku, Kumasi

THE AHAFO-ANO North Constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Michael Owusu Asante has stated emphatically that the party’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo is poised to implement the free Senior High School (SHS) education with the same vigour and manner that former President J.A. Kufuor implemented the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Chairman Owusu has, therefore, called on his constituents to defend the free education policy because it is feasible. He said the free education policy has been the dream of the NPP flagbearer since 2008 electioneering campaign, and that the situation in the country demands that Nana Addo is given the mandate to enable him launch the policy.

According to him, parents are now feeling the pinch of paying exorbitant fees, while the ruling government is dissipating resources at the expenses of the well being of Ghanaians.

He confidently said the free SHS education policy would succeed just as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Youth Employment programme (NYEP) and School Feeding programme among others, also succeed in the face of initial criticisms.

The constituency Chairman wondered if sympathizers of the NDC would withdraw their children to private schools when it is successfully implemented.

He  said the policy  is about  the  welfare of Ghanaians and not for the benefit of  the NPP supporters,  and   urged Ghanaians to consider  the merits of the  policy and vote massively for  Nana Akufo Addo  and the NPP to form  the next  government in 2013.

“It is time all Ghanaians rally solidly behind Nana Addo by voting wisely for him to implement the good policies for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
