Former MP Initiates Free SHS In Ahafo Ano
From Sebastian R. Freiku, Akwasiase-Ash
A FORMER Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North constituency, Mr. Kwame Owusu Frimpong has established a Senior High Technical School at Akwasiase.
He has also initiated the free SHS concept, widely touted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer in the 2012 Elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the new school, where the students only have to pay GH¢5.00 for admission forms and GH¢5.00 per month for tutorials and tuition.
The school has since February 27, 2013, been inaugurated with the matriculation of 35 students.
Proprietor Owusu Frimpong told The Chronicle that the establishment of the school was his contribution towards ensuring that young girls and boys, as well as Junior High School graduates had access to second cycle education to secure their future.
He said most of the JHS graduates in rural settings usually ended up roaming the streets without any vocation, hence the concept to make education accessible to them at no cost.
The former MP noted that by that gesture the youth would be saved from falling into bad company and turning into prostitutes and criminals in society
Owusu Frimpong hoped the youth in the area would fully take advantage of the school and acquire a decent and meaningful livelihood and become responsible citizens towards the development of the district and the nation as a whole.
He advised the students to respect the authorities in the School and take their respective courses very serious for a better and successful future.
