Fanteakwa Assembly members receive motorbikes

By: Isaac Akwetey-Oku

Sixty-eight members of the Fanteakwa District Assembly last Friday received motorbikes from the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Abass Fuseini Sbaabe, through the Presiding Member.
The motorbikes were part of an initiative introduced by the government to facilitate the movement of assembly members, in promoting the decentralization process.
Presenting the bikes to the Presiding Member, David Djidja, for an onward presentation to the members shortly after Fourth Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly, the DCE called on the members to use the motorbikes to reach all corners of their respective electoral areas.
According to the DCE, many a time, members of the assembly have attributed their inability to reach parts of their respective areas to lack of mobility, hence, the motorbikes would go a long way to help the members get closer to their electorates.
He, however, entreated the members to practice the culture of maintenance to ensure the prolonged lifespan of the bikes.
The PM of the assembly, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to the DCE, and assured him of the readiness of the members to maintain and use them for the purpose provided.
