Edmund Kyei, evicted

The eviction show of the on-going MTN Soccer Academy Season 4, entered its third week last Sunday, amidst a lot of drama, suspense, and mixed emotions, as it saw two teammates Taofeek Ayinla and Edmund Kyei, being axed from the competition.

Prior to the declaration, the teammates had already began showing some signs of nervousness and anxiety on their faces, and one could imagine that their hearts would be beating faster than usual, but regardless of all these signs, the fact still remained that two of them would be leaving the competition that night.

After a lot of suspense, the host finally declared to the teeming patrons, the third evictee of the show, Beninoi Taofeek Ayinla, but Taofeek was not to go home alone, as fellow Ghanaian teammate, Edmund Kyei, also suffered the same fate, thus, becoming the fourth teammate to be evicted from the competition.  Holding back a lot of emotions, Edmund thanked all his fans for their support throughout his stay in the competition, and promised that his exit didn’t mean the end of his football ambition, but rather a time for reflection.

He was also very thankful to the organisers of the show, Optimum Media Prime, and the event’s title sponsor, MTN, for the platform to enhance his soccer talent. “I want to say a very big thank you to OMP for giving me such a rare opportunity to help me pursue my dream of becoming a soccer star. And for me, this experience has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” the 19-year-old added.

The night was also the heart of great fun and entertainment, as it saw fans being treated to exhilarating music performances by Ghana’s hiplife trio, FBS.

FBS were indeed at their, best as they kept the excited crowd on their feet, waving and dancing to their famous track, “Oluman boogie.” Also noticeable on the night were businessmen and women who used the event to unwind and strike new business relationships.

Benjamin Baah took over the captain’s band from fellow Ghanaian teammate, Ahmed Awal, making him the first teammate to captain the house two times.

The eviction of Taofeek and Edmund from the competition has further reduced the number of teammates to 10, making the race for the ultimate prize, keener.
