The GH¢41,000,00  fine slapped on Sekondi Eleven Wise on disciplinary grounds by the GFA Disciplinary Committee (DC) has stirred its National Executives and the Interim Management Committee(IMC) to educate its supporters to esteem discipline.

The club incurred the displeasure of the DC following two separate incidents by its supporters and goalkeeper Theophilus Jackson during their Glo League games against Hearts of Oak and Ashgold last February  and April at the Essupon Stadium respectively.

In the first instance, Sekondi Eleven Wise was fined GH¢3,000.00 for the misconduct of its supporters, while due to the gravity of his offence, Goalkeeper Theophilus Jackson was banned for twelve (12) calendar months in accordance with GFA Regulation 39(6)(c).

In the second instance, the Committee stated that this was the second time within a space of only six (6) weeks that supporters of the Club have engaged in misconduct at the same venue, and that Sekondi Eleven Wise was banned from playing four (4) competitive Home Matches at Sekondi or venues within one hundred (100) kilometers of the Club’s home venue, in line with Article 39.4.4 of the Statutes of the GFA.

The  Club was also fined GH¢4,000.00, and ordered to pay to OMP the sum of ?16,845.00 – being the cost of replacement for the company’s damaged OB cables and accessories; and also ordered to foot the bill, estimated at GH700.00 for repairs to the damaged GFA video cameras as per GFA Regulation 39(1)(a).

In a letter signed by Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, spokesman on football maters For Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhen of Essikado Traditional Area & Life Patron, Sekondi XI Wise Football Club, it stated that “I would be positively inclined towards surcharging the Supporters Association for retiring this indebtedness of GH¢41,000.00, especially as it is a wasteful, avoidable expenditure, which ought not to be borne by the Club itself.”

According to the letter, the decision was to serve as a measure to make the supporters more responsible in their conduct at matches and also to curtail such future reoccurrences

It added that coughing out such an amount for the DC is wasteful, avoidable expenditure, which ought not to be borne by the Club itself.
