Edward Awunnore confirmed as DCE for Talensi
From William N-lanjerborr Jalulah, Tongo
A graduate teacher at the Bolgatanga Technical Institute, Mr. Edward Awunnore, has been confirmed District Chief Executive for the Talensi in the Upper East Region.
Mr. Awunnore, until his nomination by President John Mahama about a month ago, was an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional communication team.
Mr. Awunnore obtained 21 ‘yes’ votes out of 31 assembly members to secure the endorsement.
Swearing in the new DCE, the Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo, congratulated him and advised him not to abuse his new position, but use it to bring about peace within the party and the assembly, to bring about development.
He advised that he adopt the open door policy and serve everybody who needs his services and solve problems he can solve, and with those he cannot solve, he should talk to the people politely to understand him.
Mr. Woyongo also admonished the people not to begin to look for the downfall of the new DCE, but give him all the support that would make him succeed.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Awunnore thanked the President for his nomination, and the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged solemnly to work tirelessly with the assembly members and the assembly staff to ensure that all the resources of the assembly are explored and used judiciously to propel the development agenda of the district.
He used the occasion to advise against violence in the coming elections, and also appealed to the media to do diligent reportage about the district, by crosschecking information before publishing them.
He promised to continue his administrative duties from where Mrs. Anafo left.
