TENSION IS reportedly brewing amongst the rank and files of the Offinso South constituency executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), following allegations of misconduct on the part of the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Adu Boateng Boahene.
Some of the constituency executives have alleged that the behavior of the constituency chairman was impeding the development of the Municipality, and gradually tearing the party’s support base apart.
According to them, they are being victimized and intimidated by the chairman, because they have failed to accede to the chairman’s demands for support to ensure the outright removal of the suspended MCE for the area, Mr. Victor Amponsah.
The executives, made up of zonal and constituency executives, allege that Mr. Adu Boateng has virtually been running a “one man show”, a situation which they contend, is negatively affecting the activities of the ruling party in the constituency.
The spokesperson for the aggrieved executives, Musah Karim, alleged that the constituency chairman has consistently been harassing them to work against the embattled MCE, so that his suspension could be commuted to outright dismissal.
The constituency chairman told Nhyira FM last week in Kumasi that the MCE’s suspension should be converted to complete dismissal, so that a substantive MCE could be appointed. Karim argued that because Mr. Adu Boateng lost the race for the MCE position to the suspended MCE, Mr. Amponsah, he has been working assiduously to get him removed, so that he (Adu Boateng) could be appointed as the substantive MCE.
Aggrieved constituency executives are, therefore, calling on the Regional Executive Council of the party to bring the constituency chairman to order, before he plunges the party into further confusion and disintegration.
The executives are also appealing to President John Evans Atta Mills to re-instate the suspended MCE, to enable him to complete the goods works he initiated.
According to them, the re-instatement of the MCE would be in the interest and the development of the district. However, the Constituency Chairman refused to confirm or deny the allegations when contacted on the phone, and directed this reporter to speak to the regional office of the party.
