Chelsea move Al Ahly clash to Kumasi
Berekum Chelsea have moved Sunday’s CAF Champions League Group B clash against Al Ahly from Accra to the Baba Yara Stadium, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Berekum Chelsea were denied using the Golden City Park for their opener against Zamalek after CAF said it failed to meet its requirements. Chelsea were forced to play their games at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Chelsea’s mini-size stadium located at Berekum underwent renovation works before hosting LISCR, Raja Casablanca and Coton Sport in the Champions league qualifiers.
In a related development, Morrocan referee Bouchaib El Ahrach has been selected to handle Sunday’s CAF Champions League between Berekum Chelsea and Al Ahly in Accra.
The 40-year-old FIFA referee was the centre man when Esperance played ASO Chlef of Algeria last month in the 2012 CAF Champions League Group A match.
El Ahrach also handled three matches during the qualifiers of this year’s competition including Al Ahly’s final first leg game against Stade Malien.
The Moroccan will be assisted on the lines by his compatriots Redouane Achik and Rouani Bouazza. The fourth referee is Mabrouk Mounir also from Morocco.
Chelsea will host six-time champions Al Ahly at the Accra Sports Stadium and are seeking to avenge the 4-1 defeat in the corresponding fixture.
