ASHAISEC wins TDC 60th Anniversary SHS quiz competition

The Ashaiman Senior High School (ASHAISEC)] last Friday, won an inter second cycle senior high schools (public) quiz competition, organised by the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) here in Tema.
Nine schools drawn from the Tema Metropolis, Kpone-Katamanso District, Ashaiman and the Ledzokuku-Krowor municipalities participated in the quiz competition, which held its preliminary stage on October 2, this year.
The competition formed part of activities to mark the 60th Anniversary celebrations of the Tema Development Corporation, which was launched about three months ago.
The contestants were grilled on issues relating to activities of the TDC and the three traditional areas in Tema which are Kpone, Tema and Ashaiman.
Four schools were kicked out from the competition at the preliminary level, setting the stage for the final showdown between the Chemu Senior High School (CHEMSEC), Methodist Day Senior High School (MEDAS), Ashaiman Senior High School (ASHAISEC), Tema Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) and Tema Senior High School (TEMASCO) to lock horns.
At the end of the three round contest ASHAISEC emerged the champion with 52 points, followed by MEDAS-49, PRESEC-48, CHEMSEC-45 and TEMASCO-44.
For their prize, each of the two ASHAISEC contestants received GH¢200 for themselves, and a shield, laptop and water dispenser went to the school.
The contestants for the first runner-up school received GH¢150 each, while a different shield, laptop and water dispenser went to MEDAS.
The PRESEC contestants each took home GH¢100, whereas a different shield, laptop and water dispenser went to the school.
The fourth and fifth schools, as well as the other schools that contested at the preliminary stage, also took home some prizes, including 1,000 exercise books each designed with TDC colours and pictures.
