Asem pupils benefit from dental care by SEFEF

An Americag-based organisation, Smile for Everyone Foundation (SEFEF), in collaboration with the Otumfuo Education Fund and Federation for the Development of African Culture and Heritage (FODACH GHANA), has carried out a dental exercise for students of the Asem Mixed Primary and Junior High schools at Asem/Fante-New Town, in Kumasi.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Steve C. Bilt of SEFEF, told the Ashanti File during the exercise that it had reached out to about 1,000 people, and would provide services to as many people as possible while in Ghana, to embark on a charitable mission of providing good dental care to the students of the Asem cluster of schools.

He said they came with equipment which would help them provide quality care for kids who have dental problems.

The Executive Director of the Otumfuo Education Fund, Dr. Thomas Agyarko Poku, said SEFEF had done a magnificent job by providing dental health care for the school kids.

The Director of the Cape-Coast-based non-governmental organisation, FODACH GHANA, Mr. Eric Manu, said the motive of the programme was to promote strong teeth among the school kids, and that the exercise would be extended to other parts of Ghana, besides places like Asuoho and Kokofu, among others.

The Assistant Director of FODACH GHANA, Bassit Wahabu, said FODACH, with its headquarters in California, had more than 1,500 doctors and 400 dentists operating in the US, who have been operating in countries such as Thailand, Paraguay and Ghana.

Madam Rose Antwi and Kate Owusu-Ansah, Headmistresses for the Asem Mixed Primary and Junior High respectively, thanked SEFEF and their Ghanaian counterparts for treating over 100 school children, and urged other corporate bodies in Ghana to emulate this shining and humanitarian exercise.
