All set for Achimota Captain’s Prize

The premier club Captain’s Prize comes off this Saturday at the Achimota Golf Club. The tournament, which is sponsored by the Captain of the Club, Mr. Mike O. Aggrey and his family and friends is fully supported by Tricorn Auto Trading Company.

The founder and C.E.O of Tricorn Auto, Mr. Aggrey, who is also the Jubilee Captain, announced that this year’s tournament will be highly patronized, with players travelling in from Takoradi, Kumasi, Tafo and Tema. He has promised very handsome prizes (about 30 in all) and generous giveaways as well as well as very good entertainment.

The Captain’s Prize, which is attracting a lot of entries, particularly Captains of the various Clubs in Ghana, will have a Shot Gun Start with Breakfast at 8am, and tee off at 9am.

Lunch and presentation will be at 2pm and 3pm respectively. The competition, which will crown a successful two year Captainship under Mike Aggrey is expected to be keenly contested.

There will be 6 categories of prizes:-  Men Division A and B, Ladies Division A and B, Seniors and Juniors.

The Tafo team will be led by P.K. Amoabeng, President of Tafo Golf Club, Dr. Oppong, captain of Tafo Golf, Mr. Sassah, Vice President and others.

The Kumasi team has serious contenders in Lady Captain Margaret Oduro, Mary Kronborg and Cynthia Nyantakyi as well as Ricky Yiadom Boakye and Tony Yeboah.

Whiles the Takoradi team has hope in the Captain Sarpong Peprah, Augustine Amoakohene and Lee Mensah, along with Chris Amoo-Godfried, George Osei, Hope Williams S. S. Essuman and J. Otoo.

The host team will be looking to Frank Adu Jnr., Mona Myers Lamptey and Monica Sampene to lift honours, while in form Carl Brew- Aidoo (defending champion) and Rev Keteku have an outside chance along with Leticia Amponsah Mensah and Ama Morgan.

Another  group   made up of Nana Bema Tackie, Francesca Vandykye, Margaret Owusu-Baah, Margaret Anderson, Florence Etwi -Barimah and Victoria Adjei for the ladies, and Kweku Okyere, Percy Amihere (alias Nana Enu) and the Tiger Group led by Sam Poku, Chris Appau-Oppong (Tiger), Martin Poku and Gambrah Sampene  will also battle for honours.

Also lurking in the shadows, will be vice Captain Albert Brock, Ben Dabrah, Rob Ampaw, Emmanuel Quarcoo (Beefeater), Rene Kwame and Michael Obeng Appiah (Casper).
Also to make a strong showing will be Martin Osei and Ken Thompson from Celebrity Country Club.

The Nine holers will not be left out, as Mike Ezan, Gilbert Morgan, Kofi Dolphyne and J. S. Addo will be making an appearance.

Mrs. Felicia Aggrey, wife of the captain, will be making her debut appearance on the golf course in her first 18-hole tournament. The booby prize will have no challengers!
