After opening their 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign with an emphatic 7-0 annihilation of Lesotho in Kumasi last week, Ghana faced their toughest challenge yet when they travelled to play African champions Zambia in the first ever match played at the brand new Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The Black Stars lost 1- 0 , their first defeat in three world cup qualifier series stretching back to the qualification games for Germany 2006.
Speaking to Cafonline.com and the media at the end of a thriller, watched by a 40,000 vociferous crowd, Derek Boateng said “It was a very difficult match. Very difficult especially that we were playing away to the champions of Africa. But this is football and things like this happen in the game”.
Boateng added that “Things like this happen in football. We now look to the future and our coming games. We will wait for Zambia in Ghana. We came here to win and avenge our loss during the Africa, but it was tough against the champions”.
